MPCTA Update: Meeting Friday Aug 31 and Other Dates

By Lauren Blanchard.

This is a reminder that MPCTA will be meeting twice this week.  On Tuesday August 28 from 2-4pm, Erick Carbajal from the National Education Association will be leading a training for our membership drive this semester.  This will include a review of the MPCTA priorities, how to enroll new members, and why it is especially important to grow our membership now.  This training will be held in the Stutzman room in the Library.  Please drop in between these hours to be a part of our membership efforts this semester.  MPCTA has invited members of the Community College Association to visit our campus to assist with our membership drive on September 5 and 6.  We will need to ensure we have faculty ready to work with the faculty from campuses across the state who will be arriving on those days.

Our first membership meeting (which is open to all MPC faculty) will be held from 12:30-2pm on Friday August 31 in the Sam Karas room.  This meeting will have the following agenda:

  • Review of pilot membership drive and other actions taken during the summer
  • the Fact-Finding process and timeline for the Fall 2018 semester
  • the Membership Drive goals and dates
  • report from MPCTA PAC

Finally, MPCTA will be marching in the Marina Labor Day Parade at 10:30am on September 1.  The parade organization begins at the intersection of Talman and Crescent in Marina.  Please join us for a fun family celebration of the upcoming holiday.

Please email me at handley.lauren@gmail.com if you would like to be added to the MPCTA listserv of personal email addresses.  This list will include information about all MPCTA activities including those related to the upcoming Board of Trustee elections.
